It has been a long time coming and it has finally happened. Netscape’s plug has been pulled. Thank god. I don’t understand why this browser lingered this long. The browser was a powerhouse until it suffered from financial issues. When version 6 was released, I knew it was a dead browser. Bugs, problems, and a horrible new skin – how people used it is beyond me.
When Firefox was introduced back in the second half of 2002 I knew instantly this browser was the one for me. Even with the earliest beta versions it rocked Internet Explorer’s socks.
There are many out there who still believe the Netscape browser is still the king of browsers. Don’t use it! It will hurt you. Here is some advice.
Windows Users
- Windows Internet Explorer
- Firefox
- Opera
If you are not comfortable with experimenting with browsers, stick with Internet Explorer. But, make sure to get Internet Explorer 7. Yes, I know, you may have heard it isn’t as good or causes chickens to lay eggs in your computer hard drive, but ignore those. Go get it. Use it. Internet Explorer 6 has major problems.
Linux Users
What am I talking to you for? You already know Firefox is the browser to use. Check out the few enhanced and updated for Linux versions too.
Apple Macintosh Users
- Safari
- Firefox
Firefox is really the way to go but Mac users will also have access to a bit more as they are running on a Unix platform. I would suggest to stick with Safari but Safari does have issues that you may not want to suffer through.
The main thing is, stick with what you know but don’t languish in ancient browser hell. Using old browsers just takes years away from your life.
